Collegiate Track Runner - Marcus Shamberg

“Drew has been a great coach and has helped me stay motivated after leaving college athletics. The nature of my job means that I can't really get in a routine and Drew has been easy going and made a plan to work around my changing schedule. He lets me run my easy days how I want them and plan my week out while just giving me a few workouts a week to focus on. This has helped me stay focused on getting back into racing shape without getting too stressed out with fitting everything in. If you are looking for a coach to get you back in shape, Drew is a great choice. He works at getting to know you and making sure your training can easily fit with your schedule.”

Road Runner UW La Crosse - Justin Banta

“After a few years off from running, I contacted Drew after signing up for a half-marathon. With only 8 weeks to train, I knew it would be stretch to run well or even finish. Drew wrote my plan and helped me with everything from how fast/far to run each day to my diet leading up to the race. When my busy law school schedule made me miss certain workouts, Drew would rearrange my weekly schedule to accommodate it. He was always available via text or phone call to answer my questions and check in to see how I was doing. Thanks to his coaching, I went from struggling to run 4 miles at 8 min pace to running a half-marathon at under 7 min per mile. I look forward to continuing training under Drew in preparation for a marathon in the spring.”

“As a post-collegiate runner who has struggled with finding a healthy balance in my running, I knew I needed to take a different approach with my training. Choosing to work with Drew at Distance Driven Racing has proven to be an effective solution for me. Drew's depth of knowledge of all things running and his emphasis on consistent, intuitive training helped pave the way for some fast workouts and big PRs in just one cycle. Drew is also a communicative coach and was able to make adjustments on the fly many times — something that's been a huge help with my often crazy schedule. I look forward to building off the great foundation I've gained with Distance Driven Racing!”

“As a runner who has always struggled to put together injury free training cycles, I began working with Drew to help find the proper balance in my training. Since then, our view has shifted to a longer term, less volatile approach. Drew's program has provided an ideal blend of easy recovery days and challenging workouts. Keeping this steady approach has gone a long way towards maintaining my health throughout the higher mileage weeks. Having someone else invested in my training has provided further motivation during the tough workouts and runs. Overall, I'm excited for the path I am on with my training, and would recommend teaming up with Drew and Distance Driven Racing for anyone looking to realize their potential.”

Twin Cities Track Club Marathoner : Jon Olsen

Jon Olsen

“After graduating from the collegiate running scene, I attempted to coach myself; resulting in minimal success and an injury. On a recommendation from a friend I began to work with Drew, and positive results started rolling in. Drew's weekly training plans provide a consistent and efficient approach to your goals. When my races approached, I found myself feeling fresher and better prepared than I would normally; resulting in PRs that far exceeded my expectations.

Due to my irregular and changing schedule, I often found myself asking for modifications to the weekly training plan. Drew was always quick to respond, and meet my needs. He has been a great resource, and I recommend Drew to anyone looking to improve their running performance.”

UW La Crosse Runner - Tyler Nault

“After getting to know Drew my freshmen year at UWL and seeing his passion for the sport of running, I knew he would be a perfect fit for me after graduating. He employs that same passion and commitment in his coaching. As a recent graduate, maintaining that competitive running lifestyle is challenging, but Drew’s coaching has made that transition much easier for me. His flexibility allows me to get the work in around my busy graduate school schedule while training at the level I desire. He takes care to ask for feedback, is very deliberate in explaining training benefits, and clearly lays out what each week of the training cycle will look like. With Drew’s coaching, I went from being uncertain about my future as a runner to the best shape of my life within 3 months.”

“As a beginner runner I had battled frequent injuries and often felt lost and frustrated with my lack of progress. I was constantly afraid of further injuring myself and was hesitant to push myself further. I knew I needed some help and was fortunate to find Coach Drew. From the beginning, he was patient, listened to all my concerns and questions, and adjusted my training plan accordingly. While following Coach Drew’s plan, I became more and more confident and have now run pain free for almost 6 months. I am no longer constantly worried about injuries and can focus on my training goals. When I started with Coach Drew I made two goals that I wanted to complete in 1 year; run constantly for 30 minutes and run a 5k in less than 26 minutes. I surpassed both goals within the first 10 weeks with Coach Drew, and improved my 5k PR by over 3 minutes! I have benefited greatly from my time working with Coach Drew and would highly recommend him to any runner seeking to improve.”

Woman Runner at Grandma's Marathon

Melissa Krumrich

"I decided I wanted to get back into marathon running after taking over 10 years off, and I’m really happy I reached out to Coach Drew to help me train. He built a training plan to help me achieve my goals and also allow me to balance work and parenting. Drew incorporated regular strength work into my training, and I have remained injury free since starting to work with him about a year ago. Drew’s marathon training approach is very different from plans I’ve used in the past. I was nervous to get to the start line having never run a single 20 miler, and Drew was patient with me as I asked many questions about his approach to training. My marathon finish time was right in line with my best times over ten years ago, and my recovery was better than any I’ve ever experienced. I’m excited to continue with Drew’s coaching as I set new goals for next year!"

This past spring I was gearing up to begin training preparations for my third Twin Cities Marathon when my friend, Melissa mentioned the idea of a running coach and her great experience with Coach Drew. I knew this marathon needed specialized training for a strong finish as Melissa and I were planning to push a young woman named Hailey in a running wheelchair so that she could complete her first marathon. I not only finished the Twin Cities Marathon while pushing for My Team Triumph but I felt strong the entire way! Coach Drew's calm personality and overall knowledge about the sport of running will put anyone's mind at ease as they are preparing for a race.
